We're going swimming!

Just a quick note! Let's hope today works out fine! Abby woke up close to 7am, fed and got changed and napped from about 8.20am till now (it's just past 9am). Her next feed's at 10am. Meanwhile we hope that we can go for kaya-guyu-lohti before church! :D Today's sermon is about Breakthrough in Marriages. Pastor's been encouraging all married couples to attend, a 'mustn't miss' episode! :D

After service, cell has a secret rehearsal for Andrew & Charlotte's wedding that happening next Saturday! :) We're the reception cum usher co-ordinator for the church service AND the emcees for the evening on next Sat! Pray for supernatural strength!

After the secret mission, we're going swimming! Yup! Abby will be swimming, or rather, dipping in the water. :D It's a huge logistical event, and I can't seem to find my bikini... :( Well, Abby dussen have any swimwear either, so we're just go in as we are! (Or I'll find some old swimwear).

Okie, I gtg! Anyway, I have to squeeze time in to complete my fieldwork worksheets AND my readings for tomorrow!

Overwhelmed

I. Am. So. Tired. I'm even too tired to blog. Still I wanna blog. Like sometimes how I just wanna go to the school bookstore, just for the kick of it. I'm a complete nerd. There's just too much to blog till I think I'll sound incoherent. But what the heck. I sound like that sometimes anyway.

Missed Abby so much. She's beginning to make buzz sounds with her lips. And she's so amused by it. I really can't figure out why she's such an angel at home, yet when we're out, she's a whole different being. Hah. I didn't know about the woman behind me at Cartel when we met Abby's godparents. If i did, I'd have let Abby Cry It OUT. But neh. Being considerate, I exposed myself so that Abby would shut up. It almost always works. Well, I really don't care. Like what michelle says, MAY THAT WOMAN BE BLESSED WITH A CHILD ONE HUNDRED TIMES AS FUSSY. Well. She's be blessed with a one-hundred-times-as cute baby. Well. I'm sure she won't mind. Heh.

Just ended a Chinatown Fieldwork for Social Studies. That's before our ever-so-regular Hydroponics meeting. I'm so excited I can't wait for it to be OVER. Yes. That moment. I've heard so many horror stories that I really can't be bothered liao. Suresh keeps saying that he's given up. He's damn farni lah that fella. Today then the other two aunties realised that this boy actually got a girlfriend. And they were so upset coz the last time they took him seriously when he joked that he hadn't a gf. Well.

I'd say if there were anymore changes to the fieldwork, my brain would just &#@$!. (For the lack of a suitable verb, I've used signs. I'm sure they aren't vulgar.) I just hope this darn thing would be over. Please...

See? I'm incoherent. Well, at least this is my space to ventilate. If you're not comfortable, you're welcome to click on any of the links on my right panel. They're there for ur viewing pleasure.

It's finally FRIDAY TOMORROW. Ben's out with the boys playing lan games. Last week i think he really enjoyed himself. He came back really late. I just hope tomorrow will proceed smoothly. Going breakfast, then URA with Ben, Abby meeting Jere there, then lunch prolly, then go Eve's place see babies and zone out, then go cell. Well. Let's see how my precious princess fares.

I just dunno what to do when Sunday comes. Normal days, she wakes about 7 or 8, then sleep 1.5 hr later for about 1.5hrs then wake around 10 or 11, feed, then the cycle continues. On Sundays, she wakes up about that time, then feed, then wait for about half hour before her bath, then travel to church (not sleeping) then in time for her next feed which means that she hasn't slept for 3 hrs, which gets her slightly cranky. Then the applause distracts her from feeding, and just as I'm feeding in the congregation, my grandmother appears next to me after her Mandarin service wanting to carry Abby, telling me to feed later, (remember Abby's not exactly cheery and friendly now and she doesn't take to strangers very well) and then proceed to play with Abby (she's cranky) and then Abby yells her lungs out coz she doesn't wanna play and she hasn't eaten and she's sleepy and then Granny insists that Abby wants to go out for a walk then proceed to ship Abby out. Now Granny isn't very stable, so in the middle of all this chaos (now sermon is normally at the end of the first point) then Granny carts the stroller out with either me or Ben in tow or following her after a while coz Abby's screaming and Granny's unstable and upset that Abby's crying and that she doesn't like Great-Granny. Then because of all this shuffling, either Ben or I will remain, distracted and turning around to the back at regular intervals while irritating the people behind us to see if the other partner has come back with the crying baby. Then when the partner comes back, it's altar call time. Granny is once again convinced that baby doesn't like her while baby is falling asleep. Then when service is over, the cell gets excited and wants to play with Abby. But since Abby doesn't get enough sleep, she's the Bad Mood baby. Like someone in church says, "when ever is she in a good mood?" Sigh.

I wonder why I attend church.

Abby's really not like that at home AT ALL. She's laughing the whole day, making funny noises, entertaining herself and the people around her, amusing her grandma and just enjoying everyone at home. I just wished we could help her get her naps when she's out also. But it can be quite a challenge especially when we get in and out of the car etc. With all the movements, how to nap well?

Remember this date: 22nd January 2005

I STRUCK 4D!!!!! But then again, I didn't buy (and have never bought before anyway). It's just that all the blogs on my regular read list were all updated TODAY. That's a rare phenomenon. Ok. I have no life. But shouldn't it be a compliment that I'm an ardent fan of my friends? :D

Anyway, I finished quite a bit of reading yesterday and today. Fwah. It was a marathon. It's indeed an overload. But at least they are out of the way! :D

Abby's tooth no. 2 is peeping out. Argh Argh.

A tribute to the Mangroves

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

We had a session at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve this morning. All these while, I had been quite reluctant to go there. See, mosquitoes like me. But I don't like them. But this morning, armed with my insect repellent, I braved these creatures and entered one of the wonders of Singapore.

It was beautiful. Perhaps not aesthetically, but I was just so marvelled by mangroves. They aren't the most beautiful thing in the world, but they are humble. Though threatened by Man, they have served to protect mankind. For those less fortunate ones who lost their existence to Man, well, Man suffers as a consequence.

As I was walking along, I just marvelled at them. Though the trip was short, it was enriching. I'm glad I went.

B ack - LOGGING

I've got a four day week. It didn't start out that way. But because I couldn't manage with a GE, I dropped it and managed to shift a one-hour period to Thursday, my Friday is free. So last Thursday, after the mad rush (i.e. Mon to Thurs buzz) was over, I finally found some time to check on Abby. As in thorough check. I found rashes on her legs, behind her knees, on her face, on her neck (I'm talking red patches) and BLISTERS on her right thumb. Yes. That tiny thumb of hers had blisters. Big and small ones. Skinny ones and fat ones. Ben thought it was cute. I thought I was going to die. My poor baby had BLISTERS on her thumb. NINE OF THEM. What kind of mother was I to allow her baby to develop blisters? No one ever told me that thumb sucking would lead to so many blisters! If it was one or two, I'd already think twice letting her suck. BUT NINE? Definitely a NO-NO! But no... no one saw the blisters. Why? Because they were all hidden in her mouth. The thumb was happily being nuzzled in the mouth. So when I saw the blisters, I freaked out. On Thursday night. I even breached Ben's Night of the Testosterone and smsed him about the blisters. It was too important.

Then I continued checking. Then I saw her pearly white!!! Her lower right incisor had cut through! She had started to teethe!!! No wonder... the diarrheas, the constipation (from the medication we gave her for the diarrhea), the fussiness, the thumb sucking, the drooling... now it all makes sense. (But I read today that these stuff don't last for weeks... but they did anyway.) Wow. Seeing a tooth is real wonderful. Not the whole tooth definitely. The whole tooth won't jut out just like that. For those who don't have a recollection of how teeth appear, you're definitely someone browsing by and not in teaching eh? Or either that you're below six and haven't dropped a tooth yet.

Well. Teething is good news. And not so good news. I breastfeed, if you have forgotten.

Anyway, on Sunday night (16th Jan 05), she was happily nursing, and after a while, she started unlatching herself because she's finished like 80% of her milk and is more interested in doing other things but not really finished yet, if you know what I mean. So when she returned, she looked like she was ready to suck, but there wasn't any suction. (It's not good actually...) then she pondered for two seconds, smiled a little knowing smile, and BIT ME. Yes. It was deliberate. But it was so cute. Still, I YELLED! She had this OMIGOD WHY IS THIS WOMAN YELPING? look on her face. A really shocked look. But she didn't cry. She's a cheeky little one. Heh. That's it. That was the end of the feeding session.

I can't wait for Thursday again. :D

Happy PoopDay!

Abby had been having diarrhoea for 3 weeks then we fed her with Smecta and Lacteolfort intermittently, which probably caused her NOT TO POOP for the next 4 days, then let out a HUGE ONE and got so freaked out by it and cried for about half an hour or so then stop pooping again for 3 days. Now at home, it's like watching the stock market, where everyone's just watching out for signs of poop, and then announcing, "SHE PANG SAIED!!!" over SMS once it strikes!

Yup. That's parenthood.

Zipping in and out!

One week of school has passed... dropped a GE coz I had to buy THREE textbooks (well, one's free, but the reading load is ridiculous...) and the lecturer reminded me too much of a certain ex-boyfriend in australia... eeks.

Reading list includes:
MACBETH (HELP!!)
Ballad of the Sad Cafe,
Famous Five - 5 Go Adventuring again,
Charlotte's Web,
Street of the Small night market,
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein,
Changing Landscapes of Singapore,
plenty of notes.

Help... Heh. I'm outta here.

Praise God

I finally got my timetable. Yesterday was a misery because I wasn't listed as a trainee in the system so basically I was phantom. But thank God for Prof Chen who was kind enough to hear me out and sort out my situation. I went to Foundations, Prof Chen (sub-dean DipEd), SAS and Prof Low (sub-dean BA). Yay...

Kena blocked ducts during sleep (??!). Think was because I didn't clear yesterday. Pumped only 3 times, 7am plus, 2pm plus, and 9pm plus. Didn't help that recently abby's really consistent with the 3hr schedule, so the milk factory has been working full force. Now school is a real pain. Argh... It's still blocked after i got abby to try to drain in at 7am and again at 10am. If it doesn't clear, mastitis may develop. Not funny...

K. Feed time. Both for mummy and baby. Got classes today! Found out I'm in the same class as Thana for CCL302. Dunno whether she's keen on working together... Or am i also blacklisted?
